Coraline’s art direction was. just. the. shit.
A few days ago, I just spent the better part of the afternoon gazing upon “making of” clips from the film website and wandering blogs scattered with imagery and behind-the-scenes details. The magic that human hands can create is really quite extraordinary. Laika studio in Portland, OR turned out a helluva first full length feature. In another life, I’d like to be a shoe maker’s elf in such a shop.
The film itself didn’t disappoint exactly, but I am so much more enthralled with the process than the product here. Amazing, amazing work.
